Floyd County Democrats Win Best Organization in 2026 Charles City Independence Day Parade

The Floyd County Democrats brought a little revolutionary history to the streets of Charles City during this year’s Independence Day Parade and came home with a trophy!

Our entry was named Best Organization/Non-Profit Group Entry in the 2026 parade, which celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Members and volunteers dressed as Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Abigail Adams, Betsy Ross and Revolutionary War soldiers to help mark the historic occasion. Together, they celebrated the people, ideas and civic participation that have shaped our country over the past 250 years.

We are grateful to everyone who walked, decorated, waved and helped bring our parade entry to life. Thank you as well to the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce, parade organizers, volunteers and fellow participants for creating such a memorable community celebration.

We were proud to represent Floyd County Democrats and even prouder to share a little history, community spirit and Democratic enthusiasm along the parade route.
